When the murderer who murdered the insurance executive was caught in Altoona, I was surprised when some on social media applauded the coward. I was even more surprised to read in the Mirror about a teacher in an area school district who basically had the same reaction to the murder of Charlie Kirk. Both murderers were celebrated on social media for their cowardly actions. And please, let’s not embarrass ourselves by using the freedom of speech card. This is clearly a moral issue. City should address Oak Ave. area streets

I’ve lived in Altoona all my life, and I’ve lived in the Oak Avenue area for almost 38 years. My question is why is Oak Avenue between 30th and 31st Street so neglected? It’s clearly not part of the parking lot of Dollar General because it’s clearly marked by city street markers as a street. If I may make a suggestion to the city of Altoona: Get this street fixed before someone gets hurt and/or severely damages their car. William John Hughes Altoona

Last year during the presidential campaign, we were told if we didn’t vote for a certain candidate, it could be the last election we ever voted in. They lied to the American people. Those who lied were both candidates and celebrities. Did they lie for their political power? Probably. I don’t have a vote in the magisterial district judge race in Tyrone this year, but we all have a stake in it. The Republican nominee, Kevin Stoltz, is a man who will uphold the Judeo-Christian principles which are the foundation of American justice. Stoltz will continue the great work of the late Judge Fred Miller, whose family and admirers (as I was), fully support Kevin.
