There is no problem of noncitizens voting
The SAVE Act recently passed the House of Representatives and is currently under consideration in the Senate. It is intended to solve the problem of illegal noncitizen voting, which Republicans claim is rampant. This is bogus. There is no evidence of non-citizen voting in any significant numbers, and that isn’t because no one has looked for it. You may know of the influential Heritage Foundation. These are the same folks who brought you Project 2025. They maintain a searchable voter fraud database that is easily found with an internet search.
For the period 2002 to 2025, the Heritage Foundation only found 79 cases of noncitizens voting. In that same period of 2002 to 2025, approximately 1.4 billion Americans cast votes. So 0.0000056% of the votes were cast by noncitizens. Despite what you might hear on TV or social media, voting by noncitizens is a non-existent problem. If you were in this country illegally, would you risk trying to register and vote? I don’t think so.
