Robert Paul “Bob” Slattery Sr., 93, passed away July 22, 2026. He was born in Cresson, son of the late John and Ann (Barchen) Slattery. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; brothers: John, Michael, Dennis and Tom; and children: Marie Market, Robert “Bob” Jr. and John. He is survived by a sister, Lenora; sister-in-law, Patty; children: James, Annie and Patrick “Pat”; and a large extended family. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran. There will be no service. Beverly A. Barner, 89, of Tyrone, died Friday at The Preserve at Cedarwood, Tyrone. She was born in Tyrone, the daughter of John E. and Ruth M. (Watson) Hand-Neugebauer. On the day she was born, her grandmother gave her the nickname “Toogie,” a name that stayed with her throughout her life. Gary L. Bechtel, 78, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday. He was born in Roaring Spring, a son of the late C. Carl and Nancy N. (Metzker) Bechtel. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; a son, Christopher Bechtel; brothers, Lowell and Reed Bechtel; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was a 1965 graduate of Central High School, where he was a standout basketball player. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
