Shawn Ellis, 62, Altoona, passed away Friday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Fred and Sylvia (Marie) Ellis. He is survived by a daughter, Ciara; a granddaughter, Lexi; and a brother, Greg. He was preceded in death by siblings, Tracy and Wendy. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2025, at Faith United Church of Christ, 711 Seventh Ave., Altoona. Ronald L. Filer, 93, of Hollidaysburg, died Thursday. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Gordon and Dorothy (Ricketts) Filer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores “Dee”; his sister, Linda; and two great-grandchildren. Surviving are children; Bill, Betsy Ellis, Brian and Belinda; stepchildren: Bill Miller, Bob Miller, Vickie Woomer, Terrie Gigliotti and Pattie Gorski; and several grandchildren.
