Frank Polignone
June 4, 1936 - July 16, 2019
Frank Polignone, 83, Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Antonio and Carmella (Garafalo) Polignone. On April 27, 1958, he married Denise Maddox in Lewisham, England.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Frank S. (Brenda) Polignone of Duncansville; a daughter, Michele (Rich) Bridges of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, Morgan and Gabriella Bridges, Mandy (Andy) Cocciardi and their children, Haylee, Skylar and Reese, Jennifer (Edmond) Obodai and their son, Reese, and Lauren (Keven) Lohr and their son, Asher; two sisters: Mary (Anthony) Salome and Angie Batrus, both of Altoona; a sister-in-law, Jean Polignone in Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Polignone; and a brother-in-law, George Batrus.
Frank was a graduate of Altoona High School and Altoona School of Commerce. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who while stationed in Margate, England, met his wife of 61 years. He retired from Mid-State Bank after 10 years of service and was previously a cost accountant for the Crane Company for many years.
He enjoyed cooking and playing golf.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2019, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Altoona, Father Ronald Osinski celebrant. Committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
