William J. “Bill” Cooper Jr., 61, Altoona, died Tuesday at UPMC, Altoona, after an extended illness. He was born in Newton, N.J., son of the late William J. Cooper Sr. and Agnes Cauldwell. Joann L. Banholzer

Joann L. Banholzer, 87, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Johnstown, daughter of the late Clyde and Veda (Shultz) Teeter. Joann is survived by her sisters, Cora (Del) Stiffler and Sherry (Neil) Carmichael. She worked part time at Benzel’s of Altoona for 11 years, and as facilities designer for 39 years at Verizon. She was also an auditor for Your Choice Credit Union and a longtime VA Hospital volunteer. As per Joann’s wishes, there will be no viewing or services. Arrangements are by Askew-Houser Funeral Homes Inc., Ebensburg.

Betty Jane Burket, 101, of State College, formerly of Altoona, died Friday at Westminster Woods, Huntingdon. Born in Marklesburg, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Edward Z. and Ruth Simm Utts. On April 5, 1947, she married Donald L. Burket, who preceded her in death on Nov. 13, ...
