Williamsburg Community School Board approves no tax increase
School board members to make up deficit using fund balance
Looking at a $650,000 deficit, Williamsburg Community School Board members approved their 2026-27 proposed budget without a tax increase on May 12.
Without a tax increase, the district is still seeing $10,526,712 in expenditures and $9,872,305 in revenues, according to business manager Kalie Zabrosky. The remaining deficit will be paid for from their fund balance.
The district usually goes a few years without a tax increase before raising taxes again, she said, adding that the 2026-27 school year falls within a no-tax-increase period.
“This year we wanted to be able not to increase that tax burden on the community,” she said.
The district’s current millage rate remains at 9.482.
She said the budget will be on display for 30 days at the business office. It will be available for preview until their next voting meeting, slated for June 9, in the high school library.
All board members except Benjamin Postles and James Grager were present at the meeting.
