Williamsburg hosts annual Christmas shop local event

From Mirror staff reports

The fourth annual Christmas shop local event will be held Saturday in Williamsburg.

“We are so excited to host this event again this year,” Biddle’s Brewing co-owner Brittany Biddle said. “It has become one of the most joyful days of the year in Williamsburg.”

Events will take place in the town’s streets between 3 and 7 p.m. Timothy Klock will be on hand with a wood-carving demonstration and there will be more than 30 vendors set up, offering a wide variety of items.

Live Christmas music will be presented by Dead of Night Entertainment and there will be carriage rides by Lizzie’s Legacy LLC through the streets of Williamsburg. In addition, First Methodist Church of Williamsburg will be hosting their annual live nativity, which will be available to walk through from 3 to 6 p.m.

Brittany and her husband, Mike, started the Christmas shop local event in the first year of Biddle’s Brewing when they were still operating out of a coffee truck.

“Our first year, we held it down at Riverside Park in Williamsburg and we had about 10 vendors and not very promising weather,” Biddle said. “Even with it being a smaller event, it was incredibly fun to host and we’re so grateful for the local businesses who came that year.”

Since then, the event has grown to include more than 35 different vendors and activities, including arts and crafts, boutiques, jewelry, bakeries, food and snacks, nonprofit organizations and a live DJ. More details and a full list of sponsors are available on the Biddle’s Brewing Facebook page.

After the conclusion of the shop local, people are invited to drive through Williamsburg and use the Map of Lights to vote on a champion for the year’s Williamsburg Light Fight. The map and voting form are also available on Facebook.

“We are so thankful to all of our generous sponsors this year, as well as those who helped us add so much more to our week of festivities in Williamsburg,” Biddle said. “We are so lucky to be a part of this small town and help spread joy in the season.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
