EBENSBURG

DEP evaluates water plant

The Department of Environmental Protection evaluated the Ebensburg Borough Municipal Authority Water Treatment Plant, giving it an overall “commendable” performance rating for its ability to remove and inactivate waterborne pathogens through optimized filter plant performance.

Additionally noted in the DEP’s evaluation was that the operators were found to be very knowledgeable about their plant, processes and overall system. Any question asked to them by the department was not only answered, but also elaborated upon in depth to the point of answering further questions before they were posed.

Furthermore, it was determined that the system goes above and beyond the normal testing and operating maintenance normally done. One observed instance was that the operators conduct V/V testing on the sludge contained within the sludge blanket clarifiers, which would help the operators fine tune the treatment processes.
