Responsible alcohol management training set

The Cambria County Drug & Alcohol Program has partnered with The Learning Lamp to coordinate two free Responsible Alcohol Management Program server/seller training sessions.

The trainings will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at the Cresson American Legion, 222 Ashcroft Ave. Cresson, and from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at Adams Township Volunteer Fire Department, 849 Locust St., St. Michael.

The training, led by a PA Liquor Control Board-approved RAMP trainer, aims to raise awareness of the rules and ensure staff and/or volunteers know how to safely serve alcohol by recognizing the signs of intoxication and ensuring customers are 21 or older. Registration is required. Seating is limited to 40 participants per training. Dollar General Literacy Foundation awards grants

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation announced the award of more than $220,000 in literacy grants to Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations, libraries and schools. The funds are part of the foundation’s one-day literacy donation of more than $13 million throughout the 47 states in which Dollar General operates.

Area recipients include: Center for Community Action, Everett, $10,000; Claysburg-Kimmel School District, $3,000; and the Carrolltown Public Library, $1,000.

Stuckey Automotive to host Red Cross blood drive

Stuckey Automotive is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at its Duncansville headquarters, 899 Plank Road, Duncansville.
