Maurer’s ‘Jeopardy’ run ends
Central High School graduate Danielle Maurer, 31, saw her “Jeopardy” run come to an end Tuesday night when she faced off against Cherry Ignacio, a software product manager from Maryland Heights, Missouri, and Mallory Kass, a children’s book editor from Brooklyn, New York.
Kass finished the first round with $8,300, topping Maurer’s $1,800 and Ignacio’s $1,200.
Maurer came back in “Double Jeopardy,” when she hit on both “Daily Double” questions on her way to banking $13,400. Kass ended the round in second with $9,100, while Ignacio remained in third with $2,800.
However, in “Final Jeopardy,” Kass was the only player to correctly answer the question and wagered just enough to overtake Maurer.
Tuesday’s “Final Jeopardy!” clue in the category “Live Music”: “These 2 events held 2¢ months & 2,500 miles apart in 1999 were the last of one major music happening & the first of another.”
The correct answer was: What are Woodstock (’99) and Coachella?
Maurer incorrectly wrote down “Coachella and Burning Man,” while Ignacio went with “Woodstock and Lollapalooza.” It cost Maurer $4,801; on the other hand, Kass added $5,000 to her winning total.
Maurer, a digital marketing manager who now lives in Peachtree Corners, Georgia, had two-day winning total of $27,999 heading into Tuesday’s game.
