Police file burglary charge
Noel allegedly entered home, went through woman’s purse
An Altoona man is facing burglary charges after allegedly entering a home through an unlocked door and rifling through a woman’s purse, court documents stated.
John W. Noel, 44, was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Ben Jones on felony charges related to burglary and criminal trespassing, according to court documents.
About 11 a.m. Wednesday, Altoona police responded to the victim’s residence for a domestic disturbance call.
The victim told police Noel, who was previously in a relationship with the victim, entered her house through the unlocked back door, then entered her living room, sat down across from her and started going through the credit cards in her purse, police reported.
When asked to leave, Noel allegedly said, “I’m not going anywhere,” but eventually left as the victim called police, court documents stated.
Noel’s alleged visits to the victim’s residence have been an ongoing issue, the victim told police.
On June 28, Noel was charged with burglary and aggravated assault after allegedly entering the victim’s home through an unlocked front door, grabbing the victim by her hair and threatening to kill her, court documents stated.
During the June incident, Noel allegedly placed a knife to the victim’s throat and said he wasn’t joking as she pleaded with him not to kill her with a knife, a separate criminal complaint stated.
Unable to post his $50,000 cash bail, Noel is currently jailed at Blair County Prison, and a preliminary hearing for the Wednesday incident is scheduled in front of Jones for July 21, court documents stated.
