Allegheny Township shooting accidental
Resident was disassembling gun, police say
Allegheny Township police were called to the scene of a shooting Thursday afternoon.
A 21-year-old man was disassembling a handgun about 4 p.m. Thursday when the firearm discharged, police said.
Police were called to investigate the shooting, and they determined the incident to be an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The bullet struck the victim in his left leg below the knee. EMS transported the man to a hospital for treatment, according to police.
Police did not release the victim’s name or address.
