Woman facing felony theft charges after selling weights

A city woman police say unloaded her ex-boyfriend’s weights on a Facebook yard sale page now faces theft charges.

Lisa Ann Eger, 35, 2206 Third Ave., second floor, allegedly sold the dumbbells on the Blair County Yard Sale page in late December, according to charges filed by Altoona police.

Police said the woman has a protection-from-abuse order against her ex-boyfriend, and he has been unable to collect his belongings from the home they used to share on the 600 block of Fifth Avenue because he was afraid he would violate the order.

The ex-boyfriend tried making arrangements with Eger and the landlord to get his stuff but was unsuccessful, and he said they were uncooperative.

Police tracked down the dumbbells, and they were returned by the buyer. The buyer told police that Eger also sold a Jimmy Hendrix picture valued at $300 that belonged to the ex-boyfriend, which was also returned, and that she was also trying to sell other weights.

Police said the Facebook page showed a photo of the dumbbells with the caption, “Weights…dumbbells…make offer…want gone…Altoona.”

Eger was charged Thursday by summons and is scheduled to appear May 3 at Central Court for a preliminary hearing on misdemeanor theft and receiving stolen property charges before Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Auker.
