EFSA achieves accreditation for outpatient health care

East Freedom Surgical Associates has achieved accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, a nationally recognized organization dedicated to advancing excellence in outpatient health care.

The accreditation recognizes EFSA’s commitment to providing high-quality, safe and patient-centered surgical care. AAAHC accreditation is awarded only to organizations that demonstrate compliance with rigorous national standards in patient safety, quality improvement, clinical care, infection prevention, governance and operational excellence.

The accreditation process included a comprehensive review of EFSA’s policies, procedures, patient care practices and quality improvement programs. The successful survey outcome confirms that the center meets nationally recognized benchmarks for ambulatory surgical facilities.

Penn Public Truck under new ownership

A longtime Altoona business is now under new ownership.

Fred and Amy Mellott and their son Cy recently purchased Penn Public Truck and Equipment Inc., 711 11th St.

The Mellotts have been in the truck repair business as F.M. Mellott & Sons LLC for more than 20 years and have used Penn Public services almost weekly. They also own a trucking company, Bull Run Trucking LLC.

The business was founded in 1918 by Roy Rittenhouse on what had been a stable along Sixth Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues and was first named Altoona Auto Spring Co.

“Penn Public has a tremendous reputation. When the opportunity to acquire it presented itself, we were excited to have the torch passed to us and continue the tradition,” Fred Mellott said.

Starting at $3.83/week.
