The Friends of Peterson Memorial Dragway will sponsor a downtown cruise from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 4, on 11th and 12th Avenues in Altoona. The Blair County Antique Automobile Club and racers from Petersons and other tracks will be participating. Come and relive the 1976 Cruise the Town.
The Centre County Historical Society will host “Sunrise & the Spirit of ’76,” from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at Centre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave., State College. The event will include a traditional Fife and Drum Corps presentation featuring musicians in period inspired attire, a flag ceremony by the Girl Scouts and a presentation by local historian and CCHS president Robert Williams, “Centre County’s Ties to the American Revolution.” Richard Pencek will present Revolutionary War-era artifacts. Greenwood Furnace State Park, Huntingdon, will host a Red, White and Blue Scavenger Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Blacksmith Shop. Celebrate the 4th by searching for colors that represent the American flag and learn about history and plants. All ages are welcome and the event is free.

Blue Knob State Park, Imler, will host a hike of the Chappells Field Trail from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday, July 5. Wear hiking shoes, bring plenty of water and meet at the Buck Hill Amphitheater. We will be learning about the history of Blue Knob and some animals and plants along the trail. The event is free.
The Hollidaysburg and Altoona Community Bands will perform a joint concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 5, in the Canal Basin Band Shell. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg.
Hope Fire Company of Northern Cambria will host the 41st annual Car, Truck & Bike Show Sunday, July 5, on State Route 219 in Northern Cambria. Registration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and awards will be presented at 4 p.m.

The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona is excited to welcome young artists this summer for five days of hands-on creativity, imagination and artistic exploration led by teaching artist Emily Russell. Designed for children and teens who love to create, SAMA’s summer camps encourage students to experiment with new materials, techniques and ideas while having fun in an inspiring museum setting. The camp will run from Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, at The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in the Brett Building at 1210 11th Ave., Altoona.
