The Fort Bedford Museum will host the Second Annual Fort Bedford River Rendezvous from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 6, at Fort Bedford Park. Experience a full day of living history, music and food. Highlights will include reenactors from the French, Indian, Revolutionary and Civil Wars, artisans, authors and demonstrators, kids’ colonial games and activities and live music by the 46th Regiment Band and a performance by the Potomac dancers. The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Bedford’s Summer Painting Workshops series begins with “Learn the Magic of Palette Knife Painting” with artist Meaghan Troup from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 6, in the historic Anderson House at 137 E. Pitt St., Bedford. This workshop invites participants to paint a vibrant summer landscape using oils and palette knives while learning techniques to build texture, layer color, and create movement. Fans of the English novelist Jane Austen as well as those who teach her works are invited to the Jane Austen Summer Program (JASP), which will be held at Seton Hill University in historic Greensburg, Pa. from June 11-14. The 2026 Jane Austen Summer Program, titled “Pride, Prejudice, and the Pursuit of Happiness,” will mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence through a four-day public humanities program exploring the Enlightenment roots of American democracy and the transatlantic exchange of political ideas. Prince Gallitzin State Park, Patton, will be celebrating National Get Outdoors Day from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at Muskrat Beach Area #2. This free outdoor recreation event is for people of all ages and skill levels to learn a new outdoor activity or find tips on current favorites. There will be a variety of stations set up for everyone to visit at their own pace including disc golf, fly fishing, spin cast fishing, archery, kayaking, geocaching, volunteering (Friends of Prince Gallitzin State Park) and more. Registration is not required. All equipment for these activities will be provided, and fishing licenses are not required while fishing under an instructor’s direction.
