Maker Faire expands with free STEM Day for middle schoolers

Event set for Oct. 2 in State College STATE COLLEGE — Discovery Space is expanding the impact of Maker Faire Happy Valley by launching a dedicated STEM Day for Schools on Friday, Oct. 2, at the State College YMCA. In partnership with Kid Tech Inc., the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will provide middle school students with an opportunity to explore hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics activities, meet professionals working in STEM fields and discover how creativity, curiosity and problem-solving can lead to exciting futures. Scholarship honors legacy of former C-K teacher

The Paul A. Bozella Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Alicia Musselman, a graduating senior at Claysburg-Kimmel High School. The $1,000 scholarship was presented in memory of Paul A. Bozella, a beloved teacher at Claysburg-Kimmel for 30 years. Alicia will attend Penn State Altoona this fall, where she plans to study animal science. Contributions can be made to the nonprofit Paul A. Bozella Memorial Scholarship Fund at 506 Central Ave., Cresson, PA 16630 or through First Commonwealth Bank.
