Valley Voices invites singers on Tuesday
Valley Voices will gather at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in Reed Hall at Trinity United Methodist Church, 121 S. Front St., Philipsburg.
Help will be available for those who don't know how to read music.
The group has been invited to join the Nittany Knights for a joint concert on Dec. 13 at Rowland Theater in Philipsburg.
White Shadow to perform Sept. 12
The Alum Bank Community Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary will host the band White Shadow from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at the firehall.
Admission is $5 per person. The kitchen will open at 5 p.m. It is a smoke-free, alcohol-free atmosphere.

Central Class of 1986 to hold reunion
The Class of 1986 from Central High School, Martinsburg, will hold its 40th anniversary reunion on Friday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 10.
On Friday, classmates will gather informally at 5 p.m. at Spring Dam Brewery, 269 E. Main St., Roaring Spring. The Homecoming Football game begins at 7 p.m. at the home football field.
On Saturday, classmates will gather at 5 p.m. at the enclosed patio of Jethro's, 417 Park View Lane, Altoona).
At both events, all will be able to pay for their own food and drinks while ordering from the regular menus.

Ballroom dance set for Sept. 13
The next Centre County Ballroom dance will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Mount Nittany United Methodist Family Activity Center, 1500 E. Branch Road, State College.

Fall Festival of the Arts is Sept. 19
A Fall Festival of the Arts will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at Marian Heights at Garvey Manor, 183 Laurel Lane, Hollidaysburg.
There will be homemade soups and sandwiches, art and craft vendors, kids activities and live music.
Parking will be available at Grace Bible Church.
Story league meeting set for Sept. 12
The Altoona Story League will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at St. James Lutheran Church, 1407 Eighth Ave., Altoona, next door to the Altoona Area Junior High School. Parking is available at the right side of the church; enter using the side door. All are welcome to attend. The theme for 2026-27 is "From My Perspective."

Historical society to meet in Duncansville
The Duncansville Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 Fourth Ave. Enter by door "D" at the rear of the church.
Warren Baker will discuss "The Lewis and Clark Lives Before and After Their Expedition."
The society is interested in copies of pictures and information regarding Duncansville. Information can be sent to Nancy DeLozier, P.O. Box 115, Duncansville, PA 16635. The society meets on the second Tuesday of every other month, except January.
DAR hears about New Castle house
The Adam Holliday Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met Aug. 8 at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library Community Room.
James McCreary, who wrote the "Haunted Hill View Manor: 100 Years of Normal and Paranormal," spoke on the history of the poor house in New Castle.
The Adam Holliday Chapter donated school supplies to the Altoona Teen Shelter for its Community Classroom Project.
Any woman at least 18 years old who can prove lineal descent to a patriot who served in the Revolutionary War or gave aid to American Colonists is eligible for DAR membership. Altoona Class of 1973 to hold picnic
The Altoona Area High School Class of 1973 will hold a picnic at noon Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Brush Mountain Sportsman Association, 100 Brush Mountain Road, Altoona (Pinecroft Exit 39).
Some food will be provided. Those attending are asked to take a covered dish or dessert, along with beverages of their choice.

Contra dance to be held Sept. 19
The State College Friends School will co-host a family-friendly Contra Dance from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the school, 1900 University Drive, State College.
Lessons for new dancers begin at 6 p.m. All dances are taught and easy to learn. Bruce Young will call the dances to music by Strath Hanna, with John Collins on keyboard and Matt Carlson on fiddle.
