Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation announces grant recipients
More than $55K given to charitable nonprofits
The Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation announced the recipients of competitive grants during a program Wednesday morning at Morrisons Cove Memorial Park. Organizations were asked to submit projects for funding of up to $2,500. The charitable nonprofits are located in or serving Blair County.
A total of $55,413.22 was awarded to support a wide range of community programs and organizations.
Funding included $2,500 for the TriLeo Foundation’s Annual Giving campaign; $1,000 to the Juniata Valley Council for an AED to address emergency needs at 7 Mountains Scout Camp; $1,000 to the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art for its Art Across Generations: Summer-Fall 2026 Classes; $1,000 to Arts Altoona for its Arts in Action Summer Camp; $1,500 to the Altoona Symphony Society for the ASO Discovery “Small Concert” Series 2026; and $2,500 to the Blair County Historical Society for the Baker Mansion History Museum Exhibition Gallery Enhancement Project.
Additional grants included $500 to the Morrisons Cove Memorial Park Association for a bowling alley snack bar door; $1,000 to Bookworms Against Bullies for Bullying Ends Where Kindness Begins; $500 to Kid Careers Inc. for career path resources; $2,500 to Solving The Puzzle for Casey’s Cafe; $850 to the Bellwood-Antis Public Library for Children’s Room Refresh Phase 2; $1,000 to the Claysburg Volunteer Fire Company for UTV trailer warning lights; $500 to The Last Juicebox Project for the Create Kindness Youth Art Camp; $1,000 to Easter for Eli Inc.; $1,500 to Dreams Go On Inc. for an equine therapy horse; $1,500 to Evolution Expressions for Arts for Healing Groups; $1,000 to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank to expand food access for Blair County residents facing hunger; $1,000 to the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library to enhance juvenile nonfiction collections; $1,000 to the Blair County Arts Foundation for Family Theatre at the Mishler; $1,500 to the Bob Perks Cancer Assistance Fund; and $1,000 to the Logan Township United Fire Department for firefighter personal protective equipment.
Further funding included $1,200 to The Arc of Blair County for Flow Star; $1,000 to Friendship Fire Company No. 1 for replacement air bags; $1,000 to Blue Knob Volunteer Fire Company for hazard detection and community smoke and carbon monoxide safety equipment; $1,000 to The Nehemiah Project for the Kid’s Konnect Afterschool Program; $1,000 to the Lakemont Volunteer Fire Company for a battery-powered ram tool; $2,000 to the Center for Community Action for the Mountain Lion Backpack Program; $1,000 to the Roaring Spring Community Library Association for its youth collection update; $793.91 to Victory Therapeutic Horsemanship for Operation Horse Sense; $695 to the Foundation for Free Enterprise Education for Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2026 and its Speaker Series; $1,000 to Phoenix Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 for fire prevention materials; $1,700 to the Logan Elementary PTO for a playground enhancement project; $1,000 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown to support Blair County families traveling for pediatric care; and $1,000 to the Altoona Area Public Library for public tables and chairs in the youth room.
The remaining grants included $2,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County for the SMART (Students & Mentors Achieving Results Together) Mentoring Program serving the Bellwood-Antis and Tyrone school districts; $1,400 to the Altoona Area School District’s Stevens Building for its Care Closet; $1,000 to The Gearbox Union Foundation for Summer and Fall Sci-Fi Valley Con charity operations; $1,500 to the Because We Care Foundation for the Teddy Bear Fund for First Responders; $1,320 to The Door Student Services for The Door Joy Riding Club; $1,500 to Family House for its Family Assistance Program; $1,000 to Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania to provide financial assistance for underserved girls participating in the Girl Scout Leadership Experience; $454.31 to The Learning Lamp, Inc. for preschool classroom library expansion at Claysburg-Kimmel Elementary; $1,000 to Altoona Community Theatre for The Penguin Project; $1,000 to NAMI Blair County PA for The Power of Creativity; $1,000 to the Tyrone Area Food Bank; $1,000 to Geeseytown Community Fire Company for utility scene lighting; and $1,000 to Young Life Central Pennsylvania for camp scholarships.
