Tyrone Area FFA Chapter member Janice Gilliland, 17, competed at the 2026 Pennsylvania Farm Show with both her Market Lamb and Market Goat. She has raised and developed these animals over several months of intense preparation.
The highlight of her participation was being named Grand Champion Market Goat with her 107-pound goat, Future. Janice recognized the potential in Future early on and invested additional time and effort into his development.
The goat, affectionately dubbed “the hammer” by peers, was praised by judge Nate Brookshire, who described him as “an absolute gangster from the side,” emphasizing both the goat’s quality and Janice’s exceptional skills.
Janice has earned more ribbons, banners and trophies than many individuals who have spent far longer striving for similar achievements.
These accomplishments are the result of countless hours of dedication to her livestock and an immeasurable amount of effort behind the scenes. Janice has consistently demonstrated commitment, responsibility and passion in caring for and developing her animals.
Jancie stated, “I am proud of how far I have come since I started showing, and I am excited to see where I am heading with my future in livestock and agriculture.”
