Blair Concert Chorale to present concert
Across the Area
Logan Elementary’s Student Council members raked leaves for random neighbors for a community service project in early November. This annual event brings the students, parents, teachers and neighbors together. Students enjoyed bagging, raking and even blowing the leaves. This project is a favorite for all involved. The Blair Concert Chorale will present its annual holiday concert, “Gloria in Excelsis Deo,” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 14th Street and 12th Avenue, Altoona.
This enchanting holiday performance will feature a selection of seasonal choral works and will welcome the Altoona Brass Collective.
The program will include traditional carols, contemporary holiday favorites and stirring choral masterpieces that capture the spirit of Christmas.
Altoona Brass Collective will accompany the BCC in John Rutter’s “Gloria,” as well as the ever-popular favorite “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.
Audiences of all ages will delight in the lush harmonies and expressive performances that have become a hallmark of the Blair Concert Chorale’s winter concerts.
The Blair Concert Chorale is under the direction of Chris Bartley, instructor of music at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and conductor of the Pitt-Greensburg Chorale and Chamber Singers.
This concert is supported in part by the Wolf-Kuhn Foundation and a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
General admission tickets — available at Thompson’s Pharmacies (Chestnut Avenue and Hollidaysburg), through Eventbrite, and at the door — are $20 for adults and $10 for students.
