Students from the honors physics class at Cambria Heights High School, Ebensburg, traveled to Westinghouse on Friday, Feb. 23, to compete in the Chain Reaction Contraption Competition. There were eight students who worked on the contraption (Jacob Vasbinder, Johnathan Jolly, Cameron Hassen, Landon Baker, Leah Strohmier, Alayna McCombie, Dan Hock and Marshall Eckenrode). The students used random supplies around the physics room and items found in the school’s storage closet in order to make the contraption. Some of the big wow factors with their contraption included a double pulley system, the use of magnetism in multiple places and a calculated sand wheel. Sixteen teams started the competition, and Cambria Heights placed second. The four student presenters were Dan Hock, Marshall Eckenrode, Alayna McCombie and Leah Strohmier.
