Hollidaysburg library sets Aug. activities
HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg Area Public Library has announced its activities and resources for August.
Canasta and Mah Jongg games — 11 a.m. Mondays. Beginners are welcome. Call Harriett at 814-693-9292 with questions.
Needlework & Arts Group — 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Take your own materials and projects for this crafting club intended for adults. Call Janice at 814-695-2281 for more information.
Allegheny Essential Oils Club — 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Visit the club page on Facebook for more information.
Summer Book Club “African Adventure” — 2 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month this summer. The Aug. 25 discussion will be “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe.
Women Writers Book Club — 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17. Members will discuss “I’ll Give You the Sun” by Jandy Nelson. Hollidaysburg’s Summer Storywalk continues through Sept. 6. Read Eric Carle’s “A House for Hermit Crab” while strolling the streets of Hollidaysburg with your grownups on this self-guided walk. Complete the questions and activities and return the answer sheet to HAPL for a prize book.
Storytime — 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursdays. Stories, songs, shaky eggs, bubbles and a craft. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
1, 2, 3 Play With Me — 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31. Preschoolers and their caregivers are invited to join us in the community room to share a developmentally appropriate playtime together. Various community resource professionals will join us to informally answer questions and provide information.
Family Fun Day at Canal Basin Park — 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13. This event, hosted by the Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership at Canal Basin Park, will have lots of free, family-friendly activities.
Paws to Read — 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. Meet and read to pets from the Central PA Humane Society. Children ages 5 and older are welcome with their caregivers.
