Hollidaysburg students compete in regional Math Counts contest

Students from Hollidaysburg Area School District participated in the regional Math Counts competition Feb. 1 at Penn State Altoona.
The students competed in various contests answering middle school math content questions. The Hollidays-burg Area Junior High School team comprised of Joey Vu, Anthony Zheng, Ben Johnson and Jacob Ott took first place.
The Math Counts competition involves students competing both as individuals and as a team. Individually there were three students from the Hollidaysburg Area Junior High School who placed in the top 10 students participating in the competition.
Joey Vu came in second place, Anthony Zheng came in third place and Samuel Blescia took sixth place.
Three students from Foot of Ten Elementary School placed in the top 10. William Zhu took first place, Felix Xu took fourth place and Stanley Zheng took eighth place as sixth-graders.
The Hollidaysburg Area Junior High School Math Counts team, as well as William Zhu and Felix Xu, advanced to the state competition in Harrisburg on March 14.
