Name: Hunter McMullen School: Central Cambria Age: 18 Grade: Senior Sport: Swimming Athlete of the week achievement: McMullen led the Red Devils to their second straight District 6 Class 2A team title by winning the 100-yard backstroke and finishing second in the 50-yard freestyle. He was also part of the winning 200 free relay and second-place 200 medley relay. Season update: McMullen’s top times are 58.11 seconds in the 100 backstroke and 22.63 in the 50 free. Name: Kendel Norris School: Williamsburg Age: 18 Grade: Senior Sport: Basketball Athlete of the week achievement: Norris scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half in a 55-41 win over Bishop Carroll Catholic in the District 6 Class 1A semifinals. Norris also scored seven points and was solid inside the paint in a 65-29 win over Purchase Line in the quarterfinals. She also had 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals for the week. Name: Luke Scarton School: Portage Area Age: 18 Grade: Senior Sport: Basketball Athlete of the week achievement: Scarton scored 22 points and added 14 rebounds in a 70-59 victory over Juniata Valley in the District 6 Class 1A semifinals. Earlier in the week, Scarton scored 29 points and had 11 rebounds for the Mustangs in an 82-62 win over Conemaugh Valley in the quarterfinals. Name: Jayla Woodruff School: Williamsburg Age: 17 Grade: Senior Sport: Basketball Athlete of the week achievement: Woodruff contributed 11 points and eight rebounds in a 56-31 win over Northern Bedford in the Inter-County Conference semifinals, and she had nine points and 10 rebounds in a 51-48 win over Bellwood-Antis in the title game.
