Lady Lions crush Niagara, move to 4-0

UNIVERSITY PARK — In a dominant performance that featured all 13 Lady Lions, the Penn State women’s basketball team rolled to its fourth consecutive victory Thursday, coming away with a 101-45 victory over the Niagara Purple Eagles at the Jordan Center. Redshirt sophomore center Gracie ...

Name the position group you’ve been impressed with the most.

This was a question that I could have made a case for a couple different groups, particularly on the defense. The pass defense has not been great, but it’s been adequate enough, and that’s without safety Kevin Winston Jr. being injured for all of the Big Ten portion of the schedule. The linebackers have been above average, and young guys like Tony Rojas and Ta’Mere Robinson have ensured that the Lions will be fine again next season at that position. But if we’re talking about the most impressive, my answer is the defensive line. And that’s for a few reasons. Yes, there are ...

Name the position group you’ve been impressed with the most.

For the record, I’m not the biggest Drew Allar fan. Still think he’s overrated, and still question how effective he’ll ever be in the NFL. But I want to give credit where credit is due, and to that end, I’ve been much more impressed by the quarterback this season. Furthermore, since we’re talking about a position group here and not just one guy, I also have been much more impressed by backup Beau Pribula. The first thing that jumps off the page when looking at Allar’s development is completion percentage. He’s at 70.3 percent, up significantly from last year’s figure ...

Week 12 has bumpy road

By Eric Olson The Associated Press The college football season rolls into Week 12 with the races in the power conferences far from decided. One game separates first and sixth place in the SEC, and an eight-way tie for first at the end of the regular season is possible. There also is a one-game spread between first and fourth in the ACC, while No. 5 Indiana and No. 1 Oregon share the Big Ten lead with No. 2 Ohio State and No. 4 Penn State lurking. BYU and Colorado have the inside track to the Big 12 championship game, but depending on the outcomes of three games Saturday, that ...

PSU lesson learned … better late than never

UNIVERSITY PARK — This was a hollow victory if there ever was one. A week after its goal-line offense was completely inept in the game of the year against Ohio State — twice getting nothing out of advances inside the 5 and losing by a touchdown — Penn State finished its first three ...

PSU defense delivers

UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State defense may have needed a day like Saturday’s 35-6 White Out victory over Washington perhaps more than any other game so far this season. In spurts, the Lions were picked apart against Ohio State, especially when they couldn’t stop the Buckeyes in obvious running situations at the end of the game. But the bounce back was indicative of the team as a whole as the PSU defense didn’t allow a touchdown for the second time this season. “We knew what our standard was, and we knew we could play up to our standard,” PSU edge rusher Abdul Carter ...
