Law enforcement lauded for good job

This past July, a combined effort by local police departments, Blair County Drug Task Force, state police and the State Attorney General’s office made dozens of arrests focusing on the drug problem in Blair County. I believe this is a first step of a three-step process in developing Blair County into one of the most livable counties in the state. My husband recently needed the services of UPMC Altoona Emergency Department. I was astounded by the work ethic of all personnel involved. They were beyond room capacity and worked together like a fine-tuned machine amid the chaos. The communication between the emergency staff bringing people in and the receiving doctor and nurses was impressive. I asked one nurse if this was a typical day for them, and she said that more often they are busier than what I was witnessing. Your community is so fortunate to have this dedicated group of people. Each day brings a new clear message that our president is mentally ill. His delusions of grandeur grow more outrageous with each posting and words. There are no other words to describe this man and his followers and Congressional supporters. Old Crow Wetland remains in peril

It has been a year since construction of the proposed fueling station/convenience store adjacent to Old Crow Wetland in Huntingdon was halted. This preliminary construction resulted in the pollution of the wetland with sediment and heavy metals. For six years prior to that, members of the Coalition to Save Old Crow Wetland testified at innumerable public meetings regarding the harm that an adjacent development would cause to the wetland. It continues to amaze me that so many Americans continue to be duped by Donald Trump. At a rally, Trump touted that babies can receive $1,000 when their parents open a Trump account in their name. Some parents are still waiting for the $1,000. Notice that Trump said babies “can” receive, not “will” receive. Such a small word but it can make a big difference. Then we have the “crypto” fiasco. Donald Trump claims we don’t need mid-term elections since he is doing such a great job. He reportedly contemplates plans to declare a national emergency, impose martial law, deploy soldiers to American cities and suspend elections. Alternatively, he may send armed federal agents to intimidate voters, seize ballot boxes and invalidate our votes.
