ArtsAltoona events set

ArtsAltoona is holding events Sunday and Wednesday to call attention to its new building, the former Simpson-Temple United Parish church on the 2200 block of Sixth Avenue, according to a news release.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, visual, dance and musical artists will put on a “Wrapper’s Delight” performance that will include wrapping ribbons around the trunks of trees on that block, hip hop dance and tunes. The tree wrapping will be in the spirit of the artist Christo, who was famous for huge-scale wrapping projects, including one on a mountainside and one around an island.

From 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, ArtsAltoona will hold a block “pARTy” in the parking lot behind the church, featuring the Altoona Brass Collective, a live remote radio broadcast, food trucks, “sweet treats,” and decorated T-shirts and baby “Onesies,” according to organization President Donna Gority.

Starting at $2.99/week.
