The Allegheny Mountain Woodland Association will present "How Geology and Topography Affect Forest Management" from 9 to 11 a.m. Sept. 12 at the Ebensburg Borough Building Meeting Room, 300 W. High St.
Scott Weikert, a forest resources educator with Penn State Extension, will discuss how local geology and topography affect soils, water, tree species and forest management decisions. Weikert has worked with Penn State Extension for 20 years, providing education for forest landowners, forestry professionals and the wood products industry.
The program is free and open to the public, and coffee and snacks will be provided. Preregistration is not required, but those planning to attend are encouraged to call 814-472-8560 so AMWA can estimate attendance. You may also use this number for additional information.

Job and resource fair set
PA CareerLink Bedford County will celebrate PA CareerLink Days across the Commonwealth by hosting its annual Fall Job & Resource Fair on Sept. 16 at Jordan Hall, Bedford County Fairgrounds.
The event will bring together more than 60 employers and community organizations, connecting attendees with employment opportunities and the resources they need to succeed.
Job seekers can meet with employers hiring across a variety of industries while also connecting with organizations that provide information and assistance with food, housing, child care, transportation, healthcare, education, veterans' services and other supportive resources that help individuals prepare for, obtain and maintain employment.
The fair runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with veteran priority access from 9:30 to 10 a.m. This free event is open to all job seekers and provides an opportunity to meet directly with hiring managers, participate in interviews and explore careers in manufacturing, healthcare, education, transportation, public service, retail and many other fields.

F.N.B. aiding community initiatives
F.N.B. Corporation, the holding company for First National Bank, announced it has provided more than $1.1 million in funding for community initiatives throughout Pennsylvania over the past year using the state's Neighborhood Assistance Program.
NAP is a tax-credit program designed to encourage private investment in projects that serve state-designated distressed communities/low-income areas or those that support neighborhood conservation. Through the program, charitable nonprofits apply to solicit funding for qualified projects that address affordable housing, community services, education, job training or neighborhood assistance. FNB provided financial support to 40 such projects over the 2025-26 funding year, with a more than $200,000 increase in total funding from the previous year.
JARI is among the organizations that FNB is supporting via NAP.
Johnstown Area Regional Industries received $30,000. JARI is a nonprofit economic development organization serving eight counties in west central Pennsylvania. FNB's funding is supporting training opportunities for unemployed and underemployed Johnstown residents, with efforts centered on commercial driver's licenses.
