ANN ARBOR, Mich. --- Following are the highlights and lowlights from Penn State's 21-18 loss to Michigan on Saturday at Michigan Stadium:

Play of the game: On first-and-10 from the Nittany Lions' 25, with PSU down 14-11, Michigan's Chris Bracy jarred a fumble from Rocco Becht, and four plays later, the Wolverines went up 21-11 with 2:58 remaining.

Offensive player of the game: UM freshman quarterback Tommy Carr came off the bench to open the second half and completed 5-of-7 for 47 yards. He also rushed four times for 36 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown.

Defensive player of the game: Has to be Bracy. He made eight tackles, including a sack, intercepted a pass, broke up another and forced a fumble.

Most telling statistic: Penn State was once again outrushed, this time 211-65.

Most deceiving statistic: The Lions won time of possession, 32:02-27:58.

Hidden statistic: Michigan only ran 53 plays -- 21 fewer than the Nits.

Best run: Michigan's Bryson Kuzdzal busted a 43-yard touchdown run in the third quarter for the game's first touchdown, giving the Wolverines a 7-3 lead.

Best pass: Becht, who played well in the first half, threw a perfect 26-yard pass to Chase Sowell in the second quarter.

Worst pass: Becht's underthrown interception (by Bracy) in the third quarter, was just brutal.

Best catch: PSU freshman Josiah Zayas made a leaping, one-handed interception shortly before halftime.

Catch it, will ya: Andrew Rappleyea missed one in the second quarter.

Hold it, won't ya: Becht's was the Lions' only fumble.

Best tackle: On third-and-9 from the Nits' 35 on Michigan's first drive, Caleb Bacon broke through to dump Savion Hiter for a 1-yard loss.

Best block: Michigan center Jake Guarnera cleared the middle on Kuzdzal's long TD.

Best hit: Michigan's John Henry Daley rocked Becht in the second quarter.

Best kick: Penn State punter Nathan Tiyce got one to check up at the UM 7 in the fourth quarter.

Worst kick: Penn State needed better than a 31-yard punt late in the second quarter from Tiyce.

Worst penalty: An offensive pass interference penalty against Brett Eskildsen wiped out a 27-yard connection to Sowell in the second quarter.

Best call: Penn State's 2-point conversion shovel pass, cutting the UM lead to 14-11 with 11:40, was nicely done.

Worst call: The third-and-3 QB draw call to Becht in the second quarter that was blown up.

Best effort: Cael Brezina appeared to have Kuzdzal stopped for a second-quarter safety, but officials (questionably) awarded forward progress to the UM 2.

Best moment: The Big House's reaction when Carr started the second half for struggling Bryce Underwood.

Unsung hero: Sowell kept the Lions in the game with 11 catches for 151 yards and a TD.
