G. Luella Lias

G. Luella Lias, 102, formerly of Tipton, a resident of Graystone Manor, Bellemead, for the past four years, died Sunday at the Manor.

She was born in Tyrone, daughter of the late Cloyd and Effie (Wertz) Foust. She was first married to John B. Focht on Oct. 7, 1934, and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1983. She later married the Rev. Wilfred Lias on Oct. 23, 1991, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1994.

Surviving are three daughters: Ardrienne Berry of Altoona, Beverly Hagerty and husband, Charles, of Greenwood, and Virginia Davis and husband, Ralph, of Tipton; two stepsons: Ed Lias and wife, Zelma, and Tom Lias and wife, Joyce; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild, making six generations.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Helen Focht, Marian Eckley, Julia Lee and Elma Dorn.

Luella was a graduate of Bellwood-Antis High School, where she was salutatorian. She was a member of Fuoss Mills Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where she was an organist and pianist.

She enjoyed spending winters in Florida with the Rev. Lias and writing poetry. She once had a poem published in a magazine. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held at noon Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Fuoss Mills Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, with Pastor Tim McGarvey officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone.
