Mount Aloysius softball, baseball teams open AMCC playoffs with wins

DuBOIS — The Mount Aloysius College softball team opened postseason play with a victory Wednesday afternoon, defeating Alfred State, 5-2, in the opening round of the AMCC Tournament.
Mount first-year coach Michelle Ross secured her first postseason win at the helm of the Mounties, who improved to 14-23 overall.
Jessica Koptcho tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits and one earned run while striking out nine batters across seven innings.
Mount Aloysius totaled 10 hits, led by two-hit performances from Ava Doyle, Cutri, Myers and Taylor Doyle. Taylor Doyle finished with a team-high two RBIs.
Mount Aloysius will play No. 2 seed Penn State Altoona at 3 p.m. today.
Mount beats Alfred
JOHNSTOWN — The Mount Aloysius College baseball team opened the 2026 AMCC Tournament Wednesday afternoon, rolling past Alfred State, 12-4, at Sargent’s Stadium to secure the program’s first postseason victory under first-year coach Patrick Gully.
Scott Ranallo struck out eight in seven innings to earn the win.
The Mounties improved to 15-24 overall and advanced to play top seed Penn State Behrend today.
PSU student tickets
UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State Athletics is set to launch the 2026 student football season ticket sale, beginning July 20.
Eligible students will have the opportunity to secure season tickets through an online request process.
The sale will utilize a lottery system, providing students in each class a one-week window to request tickets through Penn State Student Account Manager.
The cost of the seven-game home season ticket package will remain the same as last season at $246. There is a one ticket limit per student. All student football tickets are mobile and will be accessed through Penn State Student Account Manager.
Eligibility and ticket request windows are assigned according to a student’s official University semester classification as of Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 5 p.m. Any changes to academic status after this date will not be considered and assigned ticket request windows cannot be changed.
Being eligible to request a student season ticket does not guarantee a student’s account will be selected to receive a ticket in the lottery process.
Students who are eligible to participate in the ticket request process will receive an email during the week of July 13 containing their ticket request window.
PSU All-Americans
UNIVERSITY PARK — The Penn State men’s volleyball team placed three players on All-America Teams, as announced by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday.
Sean Harvey led the way with his selection to the second team, while Ryan Merk and Owen Rose were voted as honorable mentions.
Harvey had a breakout season for Penn State, helping the Nittany Lions win EIVA regular season and tournament titles. The outside hitter was already named the EIVA Player of the Year.
