Oil surges above $100 a barrel

NEW YORK -- Oil prices have shot past $100 a barrel as fighting between the U.S. and Iran escalates, threatening to increase costs for consumers and businesses worldwide.

Brent crude, the international standard, climbed into triple digits for the first time since July and settled at $101.21 a barrel on Wednesday. The tipping point came a day after attacks on oil facilities and ships in the Middle East raised the risk of further disruptions to already constrained global oil supplies.

Congressional map returns to court

JEFFERSON CITY -- The battle over Missouri's congressional districts has returned to the U.S. Supreme Court, just two months before a crucial November election.

Many Missouri voters are unsure which U.S. House districts they will vote in and which candidates will appear on their ballots. A federal appeals court panel sided with Republicans on Wednesday, supporting a new map backed by Donald Trump. However, this decision was immediately appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Missouri's top court had previously ruled against the Trump-backed districts. Time is running out to resolve the issue before the election.
