Menendez brothers get parole hearing in 2027
Erik and Lyle Menendez will face a parole board again in March 2027 after getting an early parole suitability hearing. They were initially eligible for a hearing in August 2028.
The brothers were sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting their parents in 1989.

Judge temporarily blocks old House map
JEFFERSON CITY -- A federal judge in Missouri has temporarily blocked the state from using its old congressional districts in the November election, after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to get involved in the twisting and confusing legal battle.
The federal court action came just days after the Missouri Supreme Court said the state cannot used a new U.S. House map backed by President Donald Trump in the November election because citizens turned in thousands of petition signatures demanding a statewide vote on it.

Houthis attack Saudi Arabia oil facilities
CAIRO -- The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched attacks on Saudi Arabia, wounding over 70 people and igniting fires at oil facilities.
The attacks targeted oil facilities in southern Saudi Arabia, including a major refinery in Jazan. The Houthis claimed responsibility, citing retaliation for Saudi airstrikes in Yemen.

UAE warned of Hamas offensive before Oct. 7
JERUSALEM -- An Israeli newspaper says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was directly warned by the president of the United Arab Emirates that Hamas was planning a major offensive just days before the militant group attacked on Oct. 7, 2023.
The Haaretz daily reports UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed spoke with Netanyahu 10 days before the attack. The report says Netanyahu played down the warning.
