Interviews sought in Mar-a-Lago search

WASHINGTON -- Justice Department investigators have sought to interview law enforcement officials related to the FBI search of Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate as part of a Florida-based inquiry aiming to establish a conspiracy against the Republican president, multiple people familiar with the matter said Thursday.

The requests were for voluntary interviews and not made through subpoenas, said the people, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation with The Associated Press.

Possible cyclone may approach islands

HONOLULU -- Communities still recovering from last weekend's hurricane in Hawaii could get pounded again in coming days. Hurricane Lala tore roofs off houses, covered roads in mud and left thousands of homes without power.

Now forecasters are warning another tropical storm could form as early as Thursday in the Pacific and approach the islands this weekend.

Agents seize devices from ex-lawmaker

WASHINGTON -- Federal agents have seized electronic devices from former Rep. Eric Swalwell and searched his Washington home as part of an investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct by the ex-Democratic congressman from California.

That's according to a person familiar with the matter.

WHO sends 70K doses of Ebola vaccine

BUNIA -- The World Health Organization says Congo will receive 70,000 doses of the Ervebo vaccine. This move is seen as a major boost to efforts to contain what officials describe as the fastest Ebola outbreak in history.

The Ervebo vaccine is licensed for Ebola virus but not for the Bundibugyo virus, which is responsible for the current outbreak. WHO says early data suggest it may provide some protection.

Liberia

US carries out first deportations

HARBEL -- The United States has carried out its first deportation under an agreement for Liberia to accept up to 1,200 people who are not from the African country.

It is one of the Trump administration's largest efforts yet to deport people to countries other than their own. The 20 deportees arrived Thursday at Roberts International Airport outside Monrovia. Liberian authorities say deportees will include African nationals as well as nationals from North America, South America and the Caribbean.

Russian missile, drone barrage kills 16

KYIV -- Russia has launched a massive nighttime aerial attack on Kyiv, using missiles and drones, killing at least 16 people in the city and surrounding region.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy has urged countries to send more Patriot air defense interceptors, as Ukraine struggles with a shortage. The attack targeted Kyiv, leaving about 40 people wounded.
