Senator: Former in-law should not be in House

WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno says his former son-in-law, U.S Rep. Max Miller, should not be serving in the House and should "seek professional help" as Miller defended himself against allegations of domestic abuse.

Moreno has been restrained in recent months as the bitter custody dispute played out between Miller and the senator's daughter Emily.

Ohio representative injured in accident

WASHINGTON -- Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur is being treated for non-life threatening injuries after a car accident in Toledo.

Her office said Kaptur, 80, was a passenger in a vehicle headed to a church service Sunday "when the car she was traveling in was struck."

Blaze on passenger ferry kills at least 5

SURABAYA -- An Indonesian ferry carrying 271 people has caught fire in waters off Madura island, killing at least five people and leaving 41 others unaccounted for, authorities said.

The Mutiara Sentosa 2 was en route from Surabaya to Makassar when the blaze broke out early in the morning. Rescue teams, naval vessels and nearby ships rushed to assist as passengers gathered on deck or jumped into the sea to escape flames and thick smoke. By Sunday afternoon, 225 passengers and crew had been rescued and five bodies recovered.

Tourist plane crashes in Peru, killing 13

BOGOTA -- Authorities in Peru say a plane carrying European tourists to view the famed Nazca Lines has crashed into a field outside the Peruvian city of Nazca, killing 13 people.

Nazca's municipal government said the plane departed from the nearby city of Ica and was operated by Peruvian company Aerodiana.
