Vances' son 1st born to sitting VP in 150 years

WASHINGTON -- Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance have welcomed their fourth child.

Their son Alec Neel Vance is the first child born to a sitting vice president in more than 150 years. The Vances announced the birth Sunday on social media. Alec joins older siblings Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

5 family members dead after flash flood

BICKNELL -- Five members of a Utah family have died after a flash flood swept through canyons in southern Utah where they were on a day outing.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said the family had gone hiking Friday when heavy rains triggered a sudden, devastating flood. The bodies of the five were recovered Friday evening and Saturday.

Ferry carrying 133 people capsizes

GEORGETOWN -- Authorities in Guyana say a ferry carrying 133 passengers and crew has capsized. So far, 67 people, including 15 children, have been rescued.

The MV Barima was traveling from the capital, Georgetown, to Port Kaituma when it sent a distress call. This happened late at night, prompting a search-and-rescue operation involving state and private boats. The vessel capsized near the Pomeroon River.

5.5 magnitude quake hits Andes region

LIMA -- A 5.5 magnitude earthquake has shaken the Andes region of Peru, killing at least six people.

Authorities reported the quake struck Saturday night, with the epicenter near the city of Sicaya in Huancayo province. More than 30 people were injured and 300 have been displaced.
