Ship engineer charged in bridge collapse
BALTIMORE -- Prosecutors have charged the chief engineer of the cargo ship Dali in connection with the 2024 collapse of Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge. They allege the engineer failed to notify the U.S. Coast Guard about hazardous conditions on the ship.
The charge was filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Maryland.

Investigators seek clues in small jet crash
Investigators are on the scene where business jet crashed on a Texas highway, killing one person on board. Local officials in Laredo said Wednesday the toll in the fiery crash could have been much worse and credited bystanders for helping police rescue passengers and crew.
A business partner confirmed in a social media post that the person who died was Joshua Baer, a leader in Texas' technology and startup sectors.

EVIAN-LES-BAINS -- Leaders at the Group of Seven summit have backed U.S. President Donald Trump's tentative agreement with Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz and extend a ceasefire.
French President Emmanuel Macron called it a "very good deal," noting it could stabilize the region and benefit economies.

Zelenskyy: G7 leaders pledge more vital help
KYIV -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Ukraine has secured key support from world leaders at the Group of Seven summit in France.
He says the leaders of major industrial nations have pledged to bolster Ukraine's air defenses and energy supply. They also plan to increase economic pressure on Moscow as Russia's all-out invasion continues into its fifth year.
