Judge refuses to block limit to mail voting
A federal judge has declined to halt President Donald Trump's executive order creating a federal voter list and limiting mail voting, clearing the way for potential sweeping changes in how American elections are run shortly before this year's midterm elections.
U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee in Washington, rejected the request by Democrats and civil rights groups that had argued Trump's order would be found unconstitutional because the states and Congress, not the president, have the power to set election rules.

WASHINGTON -- The top federal prosecutor in Chicago denies that his office has opened an investigation into E. Jean Carroll, the longtime advice columnist who said Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in a New York department store 30 years ago.
The Associated Press, citing anonymous sources, has reported that the federal prosecutors' office in Chicago has opened an investigation into Carroll examining perjury allegations.

BEIRUT -- Israel's military says that the air force has carried out an airstrike on a southern suburb of Lebanon's capital. The strike on Thursday afternoon hit an apartment near Beirut's international airport.
