AG Paxton wins GOP runoff for US Senate
PLANO -- Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. He defeated four-term Sen. John Cornyn. Paxton was endorsed by President Donald Trump last week.
Trump endorsed Paxton as part of his effort to dislodge GOP officeholders he views as less than devout in their support of him.

Nonprofit seeks indictment's dismissal
WASHINGTON -- The Southern Poverty Law Center says a Justice Department indictment against the group is part of a "top-down" campaign of retribution against President Donald Trump's perceived political enemies and represents a vindictive prosecution that must be dismissed.
That's according to court papers filed Tuesday by the Alabama-based nonprofit.

Train collides with minibus of children
BUGGENHOUT -- A train traveling at high speed hit a minibus crossing a railway in Belgium, killing four people, including two children, and injuring five other children.
A security camera showed the minibus drove through the closed crossing barrier. The bus driver, an escort, and two children aged 12 and 15 died. The injured children are hospitalized in serious condition.

Kyiv warned to brace for major barrage
KYIV -- Ukraine's air force says Russia launched more than 100 drones and two ballistic missiles at Ukraine overnight.
The attacks follow Russia's warning to foreign citizens and diplomats on Monday to leave Kyiv, citing its planned "systemic strikes" on the Ukrainian capital. Despite the threats, the European Union and other delegations say they will stay.
