Capitol rioter gets life for molestation
WASHINGTON — A Florida handyman who was sentenced to life in prison for molesting two children had been convicted of storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, but was pardoned by President Donald Trump.
Andrew Paul Johnson is among several Jan. 6 defendants who’ve been charged with new crimes since Trump’s sweeping act of clemency for Capitol rioters. A judge handed down Johnson’s life sentence on Thursday.

Savannah Guthrie visits ‘Today’ show
NEW YORK — Savannah Guthrie made an off-camera appearance at offices of NBC’s “Today” show, her first time back since her mother Nancy went missing from her Arizona home.
Guthrie made the appearance Thursday morning. “Today” said Guthrie plans to return to the air eventually but remains focused now on supporting her family.

BUDAPEST — President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he would rather not repair a damaged pipeline that carries Russian oil to Central Europe.
Oil flows to Hungary and Slovakia have stopped since Jan. 27, after drone strikes damaged the Druzhba line.

Millions left without power in blackout
HAVANA — A blackout has left millions of people without power in Havana and the rest of western Cuba in the latest outage on an island struggling with dwindling oil reserves and a crumbling electric grid.
Government radio station Radio Rebelde quoted an energy official as saying that it could take at least
72 hours to restore operations at one of Cuba’s largest thermoelectric power plants.
