Penn State will play an SEC team in the Peach Bowl against an opponent that it’s never met — Mississippi.
ESPN confirmed the matchup at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon.
The Nittany Lions (10-2) finished the regular season ranked No. 10 — one spot ahead of Ole Miss (10-2).
Mississippi’s two losses came to Alabama (24-10) and Georgia (52-17), both of which finished in the top six of the College Football Playoff’s final ratings released Sunday.
The Peach Bowl, which will be played in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is set for Saturday, Dec. 30 with a noon kickoff. ESPN will televise.
Penn State has never appeared in the Peach Bowl.
