Altoona 126-pounder junior Damion Finnegan, like many in the school district, had a tough week after learning his friend and 15-year-old teammate Devon Pfirsching was killed in a shooting just before midnight on Tuesday. Finnegan was feeling a little bit better on Friday night at the AAHS Fieldhouse after the first night of the Northwest Regional Class 3A Tournament. Altoona’s Matt Sarbo dominated the 132-pound weight class at last week’s District 6 Class 3A Tournament, including a 21-6 technical fall over State College’s Owen Woolcott in the finals. Sarbo, voted the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament, will look to continue his postseason domination this weekend in the Northwest Regional Tournament at the AAHS Fieldhouse. Cassidy shifts goal from record to gold medal

Bedford’s Kaden Cassidy was at one time focused on breaking the state record for technical falls. He had 16 technical falls in his first 18 bouts, and he had his eye on Exeter’s Austin DeSanto’s 29 technical falls. Now the goal has shifted from breaking records to state titles.
