Wrestlers forced to miss sectionals

Two Blair County star wrestlers won’t be competing in the District 6 Class 2A Section 1 Tournament at Huntingdon High School today. Bellwood-Antis senior and returning Southwest Regional fourth-placer Alex Taylor, who was 9-0 at 172 pounds, will miss the postseason because he’s under concussion protocol until March. Tyrone senior Alex Weaver, who was 4-4 at 215, has been ruled ineligible for the postseason. Weaver placed eighth at the Southwest Regional Tournament last season. Ready or not, postseason starts Tuesday

The wrestling season is less than three months old. Because of COVID-19 protocols, some teams, Glendale for one, just started the dual meet season this month. On Tuesday, though, the postseason starts for 26 District 6 Class 2A teams with four sectional tournaments in Huntingdon, Central Cambria, Bald Eagle Area and Forest Hills.
