Igloo spotlighted by DeLattre’s record jump

By Matt Michelone For the Mirror Last season, Hollidaysburg’s Caden DeLattre set the Golden Tigers’ school record in the triple jump with a mark of 45 feet, 9 inches. Fast forward to Saturday’s 47th annual Altoona Igloo Invitational at Mansion Park, DeLattre stepped to the runway once again and topped that mark again…by nearly one foot. The Hollidaysburg Area High School boys tennis team improved to 9-0 on Saturday with wins over Selinsgrove and Shikellamy, both by 5-0 scores at the Summit Tennis and Athletic Club. Against the Seals, the Tigers got singles wins from Ben Johnson, Garrett Bouchard and Michael Waibel to go with doubles victories from Yvan Chen-Felix Xu and Alex Arbogast-Jacob Sidney. Kravetz, Ewing earn HOF scholarships

Two outstanding student-athletes are being recognized as the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame’s 2024 scholarship recipients. Hailey Kravetz of Altoona Area High School and Braden Ewing of Tyrone Area High School will each be presented with a $2,000 check at the Hall of Fame’s banquet and induction ceremony April 13 at the Blair County Convention Center. Reliance Bank sponsors the scholarship program for the Hall of Fame, which has presented scholarships annually since 1988 and has now awarded a total of $134,000 to deserving student-athletes. Laurel Highlands’ winter all-conference teams out

The Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference recently released its all-conference selections for this past winter sports season for boys and girls basketball, swimming and wrestling featuring players from Blair and surrounding counties. In girls basketball, Hollidaysburg’s Bella Vent was named MVP in the Eastern Conference. First-teamers included Bellwood-Antis’ Lilly Gerwert, Bishop Guilfoyle’s Maurie Querry and Morgan Ruggery, along with Hollidaysburg’s Clare Padamonsky.
