Scarlet Dragons take care of visiting Marauders

MARTINSBURG -- The Central boys volleyball team improved to 2-3 Tuesday night, thanks to a 25-16, 25-23, 25-21 win over Bishop Guilfoyle in high school play.

The Dragons got 10 kills and 13 service points from Christian Heuston to go with 11 kills from Bryson Brooks. Blake Reynolds added 25 assists while Hayden Smith contributed three solo blocks.

Jacob Mellott had 10 service points and seven digs for BG. Noah Kelleher added seven service points and eight kills and Marklin Myers had a team-high nine kills. Brenden Young had 22 assists.

BISHOP GUILFOYLE: Young 2, Mellott 10, Dangler 1, Jiang 2, Myers 3, Kelleher 7.

AAHS evens it up

LEWISTOWN -- The Altoona Area High School boys tennis team moved above .500 on Monday, thanks to a 5-0 win over Mifflin County.

The Lions (6-5) got singles wins from Luke Mitchell, Josh Adams by Brady Sassano, along with doubles victories earned by the teams of Aiden Aiken and Avery Lanzendorfer along with Max Chile and Sean Ratchford.

SINGLES: 1, Mitchell, A, def. Miller, 6-1, 6-0; 2, Adams, A, def. Mazur, 6-1, 6-1; 3, Sassano, A, def. Curry, 6-0, 6-0.

DOUBLES: 1, Aiken-Lanzendorfer, A, def. Foltz-Crader, 6-0, 6-1; 2, Chile-Ratchford, A, def. Breneman-Zannino, 6-2, 6-0.

CLEARFIELD -- Hollidaysburg improved its perfect record to 10-0 with a 5-0 win at Clearfield in high school boys tennis.

The Golden Tigers got singles wins from Ben Johnson, Jacob Sidney and Alex Arbogast. Doubles victories were earned by Aamir Azad-William Zhu, along with Noah Kanish and Jude Irwin.
