Williamsburg girls fall short in state title game
The Williamsburg girls basketball team’s quest for its first state title in 29 years came up short on Friday afternoon.
Delaware County Christian hit 3-of-6 free throws in the final 25 seconds to edge Williamsburg, 39-36, in the PIAA Class 1A girls final at the Giant Center in Hershey.
Junior Levada Gorsuch led the Lady Blue Pirates with 19 points, and Williamsburg held a big advantage in rebounds, but cold outside shooting and a 7-of-15 showing at the free throw line hurt its chances. Williamsburg scored just two points in the fourth quarter.
Ella Stinger (16 points) and Dominique Good (14 points) led Delco Christian to its first-ever state title. Williamsburg finished with a 26-6 record.
