Mid-Penn change alters Lions, Tigers schedules

A shakeup in the Mid-Penn Conference has led to schedule changes for the two biggest football teams in Blair County. Altoona will remain in the Mid-Penn’s Commonwealth Division, but the elimination of the Liberty Division has led to the Commonwealth and Keystone Divisions including 10 teams and the Capital and Colonial Division having nine-team divisions. BG wins appeal, will drop back to 1A

Four football programs, Villa Maria field hockey and Springfield Township boys soccer all had their classification appeals heard at Wednesday’s PIAA meeting, and Bishop Guilfoyle’s appeal was the only one that was successful. Three Tigers honored

The Pennsylvania Football News Coaches Select All-State Team was released Friday for Class 4A through 6A, and three Hollidaysburg players landed on the 5A team. Jack Steiner, who set a Hollidaysburg record for kick return yardage this season, made the first team as a kick return specialist. Caden DeLattre (WR) and Hunter Albright (OG) landed on the second team. No players from the Mirror’s core coverage area were on the 4A or 6A teams.

PFN all-star selections made for small schools
