The small-school classifications of the Pennsylvania Football News Coaches Select All-State team were announced on Thursday.
Altoona Mirror Player of the Year Hunter Smith was the only player from the Mirror's core coverage area to make the first team in Class 3A where he landed on the team as a fullback after leading the area in scoring by a wide margin.
Central teammates Jack Dunn (WR) and Eli Muthler (safety) were second-team selections along with Tyrone's Braden Ewing (DT) and Penn Cambria's Derek Hite (OLB).
Clearfield's Carter Freeland was selected as a first-team defensive athlete in 3A.
The 2A team had the most local selections.
Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic's Carter Sheehan, who is going to Temple to play football as a preferred walk-on, made the first team as a center, and Bellwood-Antis landed two players on the first team that often worked together in punter Josh Dorminy and his long snapper Chance Schreier.
Sheehan's teammate, Kaden Wyandt, made the second team as an outside linebacker.
Four Bald Eagle Area players also made the first team -- Carson Nagle (QB), Kahale Burns (slot/HB), Camron Watkins (WR) and Alex Lefebvre (DE). BEA's Eric Clark, also a defensive end, made the second team.
Richland's Evan McCracken made the 2A first team as an offensive athlete, and his teammate, Austin Yarnick made the second team as a wide receiver.
In Class 1A, Northern Bedford was represented by Aidan Pittman, who made the first team as a kick/punt returner and Aaron Bowers, who was selected to the second team as a wide receiver.
Northern Cambria's Ty Dumm (safety) and Dawson Shutty (DT) also made the first team as did Moshannon Valley's Sam Shipley as a middle linebacker.
According to PFN owner Billy Splain, at least 35 coaches voted in each class with a total of more than 200 coaches voting overall. The Class 4A through 6A teams will be released today.
